Dolphin Head Description

The portion of Hilton Head Plantation that overlooks the Port Royal Sound onto Parris Island is called Dolphin Head. Many couples mark their calendars: "full moon" so they can remember to take advantage of Dolphin Head's mile-long beach and go for a leisurely walk in romantic moon shadows. For families with young children, the playground and picnic area can be a powerful drawing card.

Hilton Head Plantation is one of Hilton Head’s largest and most age-diverse established communities. Reaching over 4,000 acres between the Intracoastal Waterway and Port Royal Sound, Hilton Head Plantation has over 4,000 homes and 500 villas. There is the Country Club of Hilton Head which is host to the semi-private 18-hole golf course designed by Rees Jones. In addition Rees has also designed the award-winning Oyster Reef Golf Course and Bear Creek Golf Course. A four private course call Dolphin Head was created by Gary Player and Ron Kirby. Hilton Head Plantation offers access to two miles of beach enjoyment, a community recreation center, a shared gardening area, numerous community swimming pools, tennis courts, Skull Creek Marina and the Old Fort Pub restaurant. Two nature conservancy’s offer beautiful, engaging nature trails and boardwalks through woods and marshland. Leisure paths wind throughout the plantation for walking, jogging and biking.
